Hello and welcome. It is really an article that is certainly GREATLY needed. A minimum of I think it is. I started wearing makeup around age 14 and when I started, it was the WRONG shade for my skin. So! I am just looking to speak out for all the Beautiful, Brown-Skinned Black Women that have as hard a time finding makeup when i do. So, allow me to give you a little background on me.
Firstly, Black is beautiful, along with the darker the berry the sweeter the juice! That being said, at 14 I used to be a bit blackberry with out a clue. Initially when i first started wearing makeup it had been just lipstick plus it began being my mom’s Fashion Fair. My mother who is light-skinned and contains a daughter who may be dark-skinned. Naturally her lipstick failed to match at all. I used to be even termed as a dark-skinned Ronald McDonald by a previous ex-boyfriend!
So, I really believe that us brown-skinned and dark-skinned women need some extra help as it is tougher for us to find makeup that matches in drugstores, or makeup on dark skin that is certainly affordable. Plus Cosmo and Glamour as well as them always be referring to great make-up for spring, but uh, hello have you forget black girls like makeup for spring too? So, I feel your pain. I am just a self-appointed make-up aficionado, and would want to offer my experiences along with some products which are FABO and not so much fabo. So… without further ado, let’s begin!
JUST AN FYI: These are typically all make-ups i have had to make use of through testing and so i am sharing from EXPERIENCE!
FACE: I struggle to look for a foundation, and full-coverage makeup which is affordable so here are several wonderful finds which i are finding that happen to be both.
1-Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Foundation- Spicy Brown
PROS- it is proficient at matching skin tones who have yellow or red undertones, spreads easily of course, if you just need moderate coverage will give you a good bang for your buck. It really is affordable ranging about 6-8 bucks, and you may find it in most drugstores, and food markets.
CONS- For those who have dark spots and blemishes, this may NOT provide you with the policy you will need! Not close, okay? Additionally, it wears off quickly so you would need to reapply often. The bottle is upside down with some spout, when you pour out excessive, you cannot put it back into the bottle and also in these times of financial crisis er’ little bit counts am I right ladies?!
Also, if you have troubles matching the skin tone simply because you have BOTH yellow and red, or perhaps blue and red undertones, this collection might not be for you because there is not just a vast selection to choose from, so you might have to proceed. Other shades that are great for brown-skinned to dark-skinned gals, and several people fellas! Rich Mink, Sheer Espresso, and True Ebony.
2- Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation
PROS-It gives you more coverage compared to Liquid Foundation. That’s it. That’s about all I could think about.
CONS-Unfortunately, it rubs off QUITE quickly. Also, it is tinted slightly differently compared to liquid foundation and so i thought it was harder to suit my complexion. Also, when it was warm outside it wipes RIGHT off, and revealed every blemish in my face! LOL, additionally, it wipes off on the clothes, stains your hands, the entire bit. It’s moderately priced also, so if you wish to look nice for a date during the night, going somewhere cool, it’s a brief fix, but I wouldn’t put it on towards the club, or perhaps a carnival, anywhere that might be warm, or sweaty. It can be chosen in a similar.
3- Black Opal True Color Liquid Foundation – Black Walnut
PROS-Awesome Coverage. There is quite a bit from the bottle thus it lasts you a significant while. It is an upright standing bottle with a generous opening, if you pour out an excessive amount of, it won’t be too hard to obtain into the bottle, so that you can SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! I wear foundation each day, sometimes wash my face and re-apply if heading out that night, and that bottle lasts me about a good 2 months approximately. You will see that it ranges from about 8-12 bucks… depending on where you reside. It is therefore an incredible buy.
CONS- In case you have combination to oily skin, WEAR POWDER, while keeping it with you! Throughout these upcoming warm to hot days, you might look really greasy from the face. However if you keep Blotters together with you, or powders, you need to be okay. Also, it might just be that MY skin tone changes, thus if that is the case disregard, having said that i realize that when I check out buy a completely new one, the shade might not exactly match such as the previous one, so be mindful of this.
Another con is the fact that Black Opal Products might be a little harder to discover in shops than other products that I mention. I don’t know if it’s that they’re not that popular, or what, but whenever I look I always find them in both Rite-Aid, or CVS. So, happy hunting. Other colors beneficial to brown-skinned girls… Carob, Suede Mocha, and Ebony Brown….. And for you borderline caramel to brown-skin girls, Hazelnut!
4-Maybelline Pure Make-Up (Shine Free Foundation with H2O) – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- Very inexpensive, easy to find. Located in Most drugstores, supermarkets, Wal-Mart. Costs range about 5.99-10 bucks, depending on your region. Full coverage, doesn’t clog your pores, spreads easily.
CONS-Upside-down tube, so you should be exact about how exactly much is essential to your face, cause when you use excessive… it can go to waste. Limited colors for darker skin tones. They merely have THREE shades for females in our color. Dark 1- Tan, Dark 2- Caramel, and Dark 3-Cocoa. We have used the Cocoa. It is too dark for my skin-tone.
However, the Caramel Dark 2 is simply too light. So, when you are pressed for the money and don’t have enough money to experiment, I wouldn’t waste my time for this product. They have FIVE shades devoted to light, FOUR for medium and just three for people darkies??!!! Leave this product alone, if you do not occur to match EXACTLY. Good luck evading the lady who tries to watch you whenever you try to sample the items from the store!
5- Black Radiance Color Perfect Oil Free Liquid Makeup- Cocoa Bean
PROS-Very economical! VERY! Somewhat accessible. Costs about 5.99-10 bucks, and you could think it is in many Beauty Supply stores, CVS carries it. Spreads evenly, good coverage, get considerably to your buck. Also, is available in a jar with an open spout, if you have an excessive amount of, you are able to place it way back in there. Gives you a nice matte finish.
CONS- Cocoa Bean will not match my skin! However I also have strange undertones happening with my skin, so which can be why it really is so difficult to match. Whenever you apply this make-up it dries an alternative color, it’s crazy. There’s this… weird… applicator thingy, uncertain what to do with it, however it got inside my way basically. Says it will work for all kinds of skin, however i have very sensitive skin in my face, and that i found out that within 30 mins my face was suffocating and so i found it necessary to wash it off. Other shades to try are Brownie and Mocha Honey.
6- L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Make-Up- Nut Brown
PROS-Oh my goodness you guys this make-up was awesome! Spread really, really good! Matches wonderfully to get a yellow undertone. Really does a brown-skinned girl justice. Light, which means that your skin can breathe. Good coverage for ladies with blemishes. Pretty readily available, and that i point out that with hesitance, because 7 times out from 10 they may carry all However the shades for brown-skinned. Um, I find them at Wal-Mart, Walgreens..and that’s basically it.
CONS- This device has SPF and I am VERY allergic to sun block thus it broke me out something terrible. Type of difficult to get. It’s a tad bit more expensive than the previous products mentioned. MMM, I would personally say about 10.99 and up. You just might think it is on sale. Also, there is certainly not a whole lot within the bottle, so use sparingly provided you can. Other shades to test…. Soft Sable and Cocoa.
7- Revlon Color Stay Make-Up with Soft Flex – Mahogany
PROS- Pretty simple to find in the majority of drugstores. Colors are perfect for brown-skinned girls. Kind of affordable. A bit on the high end but about 9.99-12.99 with this product. The policy is okay… Not the very best, but should you be looking for light to moderate coverage this is a good product.
CONS- Now, I came across that Mahogany failed to match my undertones that great. I understand…. Again with all the undertones. It dried and made my skin look a little grayish and chalky. There is 58deyypky really a good selection to pick from for darker skin color. Has SPF6, damaging to me, but good for anyone who is just not allergic. Also, again, when you don’t get the undertone problem…. Other shades to try out… Cappuccino and Mocha.
And finally but Most certainly not least…
8- Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- OH MY GOSH…… loving this product!! (sing song voice) this is basically the current make up I am using now! It def does exactly what the commercial says. It covers your pores, and gives you with a great finish! Maximum coverage! Need NO concealer, well… maybe slightly, having said that i don’t use any. It is rather affordable, from about 7-10 bucks. I stumbled upon it right with the Kroger food store, so it needs to be offered at most drug stores. It has a nifty little nozzle that squirts out and it’s really convenient. It is additionally whipped feeling, and I apply with my fingers.
It merely glides directly on, and begins covering my pores and dark spots, and its not very heavy, I don’t have to put on a bunch. The most notable also comes off, in case I over-squirt, I could use it right back into the bottle. There’s lots within the bottle, and also you don’t need to use a good deal for coverage. I do believe I purchased this bottle per month ago and I continue to have a little more than half a bottle left. It’s great! I love it. Hopefully this will be the final in the road to me, but usually it isn’t!
